So today is day 15 of the HCG diet. I’m on a 25 day program so I’ve completed a substantial portion of the program. The diet consumer reviews that I’ve read insisted that the halfway point was key. They insisted that once you got there you had your habits set and you could go off routine. They said you’d naturally reach for veggies and fruits and that I’d automatically prepare my foods using healthy methods.
So that just goes to show that all the diet consumer reviews you read out there aren’t going to be 100% accurate because I disagree. It’s not exactly what I’d call easier. I think I feel comfortable saying that I’m more capable of sticking to the rules at this point because I’ve learned a few tricks and recipes, but there’s still that definite temptation to NOT do it.
But that’s an improvement, right? At least I’m not constantly giving in to the temptation to break the rules! I’m aware of the rules and I’m aware of my ability to stick to them. The question has become whether or not I will! Today I weighed in at 156. I lost 3 pounds. Wahoo! I love those days.
My HCG and B-Total was taken as recommended throughout the day. Although I broke my normal routine and didn’t take my B-Total until late afternoon. Usually I take it first thing in the morning. It’s one of the additional products that I found mentioned in the diet consumer reviews. And this time I totally agree with the reviews. It’s a great addition to the HCG.
Lunch was a green onion burger and half of a grapefruit. The grapefruit wasn’t very good. I’m not sure why, but it just wasn’t nearly as yummy as the last one I had. I had my Melba Toasts as a snack midway through the day. I was able to discover more of the Spicy 3 Pepper Melba Toasts at a nearby grocery store so that was good. They’re so much more yummy than any of the other flavors.

I was a bit disappointed, but that’s what I get for expecting it to be anything like what my Mom used to make growing up. I loved her Taco Salad. But Doritos just aren’t approved for the HCG diet and Melba Toasts just can’t quite compare in a dish that I’m very used to having on a regular basis. So try it yourself; my dislike for the Taco Salad is definitely a personal problem!

So this morning in my Google Alert I got some interesting information about HCG Diet Direct. (I set up a google alert for them when I was researching various distribution companies for HCG). They are now ranked #1 in the diet and weight loss category at Ranking.com and they score a 10 out of 10 at TrustGauge.com. I had to call Lisa so she could pass the word on to her malcontent husband. He doubted my ability to judge the authenticity of a company online when I was talking Lisa into doing the diet with me. That’s such a perfect “I told you so” moment that I just couldn’t pass it up!
But enough of that extra chatter. We’ll get right on to the basics of how I did on Day 4. And actually I feel I need to clarify that it’s actually Day 6 of the diet. The first two were loading days so I’ve been on the low calorie portion of the diet for 4 days. Loading was so different from the low calorie portion that I tend to blow it off as if it wasn’t part of the diet, but it’s apparently a very important part of the program.
So now that we’re clear you won’t be confused when I say that on Day 6 I got up and weighed myself first thing. And first thing I discovered that for the first time since starting the diet I went up! Dang it all! I’m now 164 pounds. It must have been those few bites of Chick-Fil-A and Panda Express I stole from the kids plates on Saturday coming back to haunt me. I’m avoiding the food court from now on for sure.
But I’m not depressed. It’s just one pound. And the HCG diet reviews say sometimes that happens. I drank a lot of water today. For lunch I had Turkey Chili again. Individually packaged leftovers are a lifesaver. I just whipped it into the microwave and presto! I had an almost instant HCG approved meal. I paired it with Melba Toast (Spicy 3 Pepper variety) and an apple with lemon.
I went to the store and bought these huge plastic cups so that I can cart them around the house with me during the day. I think it helps me drink more water. So I think I’m doing pretty good on that one aspect of the diet. I tried a new recipe for dinner. It was Rosemary and Chicken. But I messed it up. I didn’t notice the whole “marinate” step until it was definitely too late to marinate. So it wasn’t surprising that this wasn’t my favorite HCG meal. I’ll have to try it again and follow the instructions!
I also attempted to get attached to a new kind of tea. It was called Red Zinger. It was MUCH better than the Green Tea I tried originally, but I still can’t say I like it. It’s more of a guzzle it fast to get it down and then think about something else so it doesn’t try to come back up kind of thing. So I’ll try another flavor sometime soon. Maybe I can access some of the HCG diet reviews online and find some new herbal tea flavors that others really enjoyed. If only hot chocolate were an option…not THAT I can definitely get attached to.
